韓日国交正常化60周年記念
現代写真交流プロジェクト「乾いた土地：境界の地図学」

日韓国交正常化60周年を記念し、現代写真交流プロジェクト《Dry Land: A Liminal Cartography》を2026年1月、京都府立文化芸術会館にて開催します。本プロジェクトには、韓国・日本の写真家、アーティスト、研究者18名が参加。東アジアという概念が、歴史の中で何を可視化し、何を不可視化してきたのかを問い直し、国家や民族といった枠組みでは捉えきれない個々の経験や記憶、感覚の層に光を当てます。

本展では、済州、沖縄、福島、在日コリアンの生活と日常といった異なる地理的・歴史的文脈を背景にした写真作品を通じて、境界に堆積してきた重層的な時間や、語られてこなかった声を浮かび上がらせます。写真は出来事を記録するものではなく、その後に残された情動や時間を捉える媒介として機能し、国境や中心を前提とする従来の地図とは異なる〈感覚の地図〉を描き出します。本展は、もう一つの東アジアの姿を静かにたどる試みです。

Contemporary Photography Exchange Project

Dry Land: A Liminal Cartography

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea, the contemporary photography exchange project Dry Land: A Liminal Cartography will be held in January 2026 at the Kyoto Prefectural Center for Arts and Culture.

This project brings together 18 photographers, artists, and researchers from Japan and South Korea. By reexamining what the concept of “East Asia” has rendered visible—and what it has obscured—throughout history, the exhibition sheds light on layers of individual experience, memory, and sensation that cannot be fully grasped through frameworks such as nation or ethnicity.

Through photographic works rooted in diverse geographical and historical contexts—including Jeju Island, Okinawa, Fukushima, and the everyday lives of Zainichi Koreans—the exhibition foregrounds the accumulated, multilayered temporalities embedded in borders, as well as voices that have long remained unheard. Here, photography functions not as a tool for recording events, but as a medium for sensing the emotions and temporal traces that linger in their aftermath. In doing so, the works draw an alternative “sensory map” that diverges from conventional cartographies premised on borders and centers.

Dry Land: A Liminal Cartography is a quiet attempt to trace another possible image of East Asia.
